How One Man’s Faith Sparked My Photography Journey
I never saw myself as a photographer. At best, I thought I had an eye for detail, maybe a bit of creativity but nothing that screamed “star photographer.” I didn’t have the best gear, no formal training, and certainly no connections. Just a quiet curiosity and a heart that lit up whenever I saw a beautiful moment frozen in time. Not in any serious way, at least. I enjoyed taking photos here and there, sometimes on my phone, sometimes borrowing a camera but I didn’t think I had what it took to be great. I had no formal training, no expensive equipment, and no audience. Just an instinct to capture moments and a quiet love for storytelling through images.
But one day, something changed. I met a man whose faith in me still baffles me to-date, Bill Mukasa affectionately known to many as Uncle Bill, who at the time was the Media Manager at NGM (Next Generation Ministries). He didn’t know me well other than a gardener in his boss’s compound. He hadn’t seen any portfolio or gallery. But he believed—deeply and without doubt. And that belief became the spark I didn’t know I needed.

Closing Thoughts
Everyone has potential. But not everyone has someone who sees it. For me, that someone was Uncle Bill. He didn’t just offer me a chance he handed me a future.
To anyone reading this: if you’re waiting for the “right moment” to start chasing your passion, remember that sometimes the moment finds you. And if you ever have the chance to be someone else’s “Uncle Bill,” don’t hesitate. One word of belief can change a life
